| Thomas Hopper born around 1837 in North Dalton according to 1881 census infor - married Elizabeth ( born York ) , had two children born Norton, one born Albrough and two in Stanley. By 1881 all living in Rastrick (Halifax) All still there in 1891 and 1901. He was my great great grandfather. Trying to find details of his birth, parents etc. |

Hi,
If you go to www.familysearch.org you will find that there was a Thomas Hopper babtised Jan 8 1837, N.Dalton, parents were Robert and Betty.

Thanks Jean, I found that one just a few minutes after sending the post.! Now I will have to find the wife - Elizabeth from Leeds - as well as father Robert and mother Betty.

Here are a few generations of Thomas Hopper's ancestors.
No guarantees and not 100%, but likely close as I have done reasonably good research.

As an update from a few weeks ago, with some great help from contacts through this forum, I received some wonderful information about Thomas Hopper and his forebears.
Also in a brainstorm and a flash of light I found his wife Elizabeth. She was a Wilstrop from York so that is where I am off to now for a short while.
By the way my Thomas Hopper had connections to Padgetts and Petches and a whole life around Wetwang.

| Ann HOPPER (baptised 7 August 1797 at Great Driffield) is my ggg grandmother. Her parents were William HOPPER and Ann COPLAND who married on 22 June 1789 at Great Driffield. I can't see any connection with the HOPPER family already posted, but perhaps I'm not looking carefully enough. Will print it out and study it properly |
